What is the Town Series?

The Town Series is six consecutive weeks of racing, with racers competing as individuals and teams. Teams consist of 4- 6 skiers and/or snow boarders, and although you can enter as an individual, teams are by far the most popular way to compete. The races take place on Bobcat, a beginner run accessible by both the Triple Chair and Willow Creek. The course changes each week, and is typically a giant slalom course with 12-18 gates. It is always designed with the novice in mind, and it's a very low intimidation atmosphere with absolutely no racing experience required. All racers get to run the gates twice each Friday, and the day’s racing is capped off with a party and awards ceremony at 6:00 pm.

All competitors must take both their runs between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm oon race days.

How is the Racing Scored?

A racer’s 2 runs in the first week of racing are the qualifying runs, after which each racer is placed into one of several categories based on their gender, their equipment (ski, snow board, or telemarketer), and their time (which determines class A, B, or C within their gender and equipment category). Racers compete against the others placed in their category, but they also compete as a team. Each week, the 4 racers on each team who clock the fastest times within their respective categories are awarded points, and these points are used to calculate the team’s points for that week. Confused? Don’t worry about the scoring too much. After the first week or two of racing you will have it figured out. Throughout the racing season we track the fastest skiers, snow boarders, and telemark skiers within each category, individual times as compared to all racers, the cumulative points for each team and the cumulative time for each team.

Are there Prizes?

You bet there are. The Town Series is fortunate enough to be supported by a number of sponsors, and as such, there are a number of great prizes each week. And we are conscious not to award prizes to only the fastest skiers. There are a number of ways to walk away with something, including a random raffle of schwag each Friday night.
