Red Lodge Mountain Set For "White Friday" Opening

(November 25, 2013 - Red Lodge Mountain, Red Lodge, MT) – Red Lodge Mountain opens for the 2013/2014 season on Friday, November 29, and the lifts start turning at 9:00 am. With more than 46” of natural snow in October and early November, the mountain is prepared for a “White Friday” that will offer skiers and riders 56 runs and 2,000 vertical feet to play on, making this the biggest opening day the mountain has seen in at least 15 years. In addition to the natural snowfall, the mountain’s snow making crew has used almost 9.6 million gallons of water to blow snow and improve coverage even further, leaving the mountain with a 25” – 30” settled base, with deeper stashes available to those who know where to look.

For opening weekend, the mountain will operate the Triple Chair, Miami Beach chair, the Magic Carpet, Willow Creek Chair, Grizzly Peak Chair, and the Cole Creek quad.  On the upper mountain, the terrain available will include 100% of the runs in Cole Creek (including Headwaters) and all the runs off the Grizzly Peak chair except for those in the Drainage area. On the lower mountain, guests will have access to everything except Lower Limited, HFNT, Chase’s, Big Fred’s, and Lower Miami.

Food service for the holiday weekend will be available in the Main Lodge, at Midway Chalet, and at the Bierstube, with the Bierstube hosting live music from Daniel and the Blonde on Friday, and Big Jim and the Twins on Saturday.
